4. Titus Andronicus - The Airing of Grievances
Outside of metal, there’s not nearly enough fury in music. Titus Andronicus make it seem like every album should be raging against everything. I never would have expected Jersey nihlists to create such a stellar album. Instead of coming of as preachy or self-righteous, they make hating everything about the world fun. With super low-budget production, TA are able to create a wall of angry sound. Tinges of Pogue-ish Celtic punk appear amongst the mangled, nasty mass. The philosophy of the spiteful, spiteful album is best summed up by lyrics from their namesake track, “Fuck everything, fuck me.”
