10. Alphabeat - This Is Alphabeat
There’s a lot of 80s pop influence in pop music today. However, pretty much all of the artists with said influence do it with none of the sincerety and abandon of the originals. The exception to this is Alphabeat. They make bouncy, day-glo pop that hearkens back to “Modern Love,” Katrinoa & The Waves, and Dare. And quite often, they surpass the original. Their original self-titled release was great with the exception of a few tracks that bordered on Radio Disney. Their new UK release, though, has replaced these with more mature, quirky slices of pop and kept all the highlights of the debut.
