I normally hate anticon acts. They generally strike me as too samey, mistaking quirkiness for creativity, and terrible rappers. But then Why? comes along. He rarely raps and when he does, it’s more like a stoner reading poetry. Stream-of-consciousness lyrics are basically drooled over surreal lyrics. Probably the most marijuana-y album of the past few years. You can practically see the haze. Why?’s blend of indie rock and backpack hip-hop is truly one-of-kind and massively appealing.
