15. Plush - Fed

Plush’s Fed is one of those long-lost albums that rock snobs salivate over.  After a very sparse debut, Plush’s Liam Hayes (basically the only real member) went the exact opposite for his follow-up.  Lush orchestrations, giant horn sections, and flourishes ahoy.  Unfortunately these things cost money, and after paying a bundle out-of-pocket for it, he was unable to sell the album to any label.  It was quietly released in Japan, and those that have downloaded it have been enjoying it for the past 6 years.  But now it’s got a release in the UK, expanding its audience a billionfold.

The album is a great blend of ambitious soul and yacht rock tendencies, like Isaac Hayes producing Looking Glass.  These already great songs are punched up by the stellar orchestration and production.  Honestly, if I had only heard this a few months ago, it could have been #1.

All three of the songs currently on the myspace are from the album.
