26. Throw Me The Statue - Moonbeams
I came to this band first for how much the above song, “About To Walk” reminds me of Neutral Milk Hotel. However, the album was something different completely. Instead of the grotesqueties of NMH, TMTS creates what is mostly a lighter fare. Songs are joyful, warm, and fuzzy. Towards the end of the album, it invokes summer nights, with an expansive, melancholic atmosphere. A whole range of emotions are explored, and while it’s not the most original music ever, every song has super-strong melodies and creative instrumentation.
