29. PAS/CAL - I Was Raised On Matthew, Mark, Luke & Laura
I’ve been following this band since my freshman year of college. And that hasn’t really paid off until now. Every year or two they’d release an EP or single, with promises of a full-length always on the horizon. Their style mutated from summer sun pop to ELO-love to something not unlike Destroyer, succeed with style. All those phases of band are represented on their debut album, which is a good and bad thing. We get all those different excellent kinds of pop songs, but we also get an absurdly disjointed album. But hey, as far as just a collection of songs go, this succeeds majorly.
