I Investigate the Other Brian Glidewells Part II: The Shoe Kicking Contest Competitor
From the Orange County ATV newsletter:
…I did three rides on Sunday, the third was led by Rich Ferr, was a good ride, but some time we were heading directly into the sun and there was some chop. We held the Shoe kicking on Sunday around 4:00 PM, and I would like to thank all those that participated, it was a good show. Even though everyone couldn’t win, just by participating you were a winner. Steve Frey landing was recorded on the Richter scale as far away as San Diego, and his shoe landed on the line, measuring a big zero. John Durigon did the demo and his distance was seven inches, beating Steve. George Shaw didn’t wear his elbow pads and was injured on his attempt. Gloria Sauer’s was so disoriented, no one knew which way her shoe was going to fly, causing a panic and me to trip over some orange cones. One little girl was as cute as she could be, running the length of the course and then kicking over a dozen time before achieving a launch. Brian Glidewell’s shoe not only went out of bounds, but also backwards, preventing Steve Frey from coming in last. These are just a few of the participants that contributed to the show, I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!
Thanks again for your participation! New Years eve, Brian and company had constructed the dance floor, was a super job, had a nice floor with rail, believe rail was to code and well lit. Dave and Julie provided the stereo system. Brian and Michelle handed out the noise makers, poppers and horns. Kyle Carter provide the 2007 sign. Several members provided the used Christmas trees. New Years arrived on time and we were ready, good friends and good times.
Kudos on the makeshift dancefloor, Brian, but I’m confused as to what else you were doing…
We had a Shoe Kicking Contest this outing which turned out to be a lot of fun. It involved going around a cone 7 times then trying to kick your shoe as far as you can. I think the biggest challenge of all was staying ON your feet! It was a lot of fun and even if you didn’t participate you were laughing.
What? I expect Brian Glidewells to do much better than this in Shoe Kicking Contests. I feel ashamed. However, later the newsletter mentions another name that makes me think this is not a Brian Glidewell, but rather the natural enemy of the Brian Glidewell: the Bryan Glidewell.
Note that this was originally to be a three-part series, but I can’t seem to find the amazon registry for the commitment ceremony between a Brian Glidewell in Iowa and his life partner I once spotted.
