I did it.
Finally.
After 15 years of seriously liking music, I have my first perfect album.
I religiously keep track of the iTunes star ratings for all of my songs. I don’t think anyone else does this. I immediately rate all songs after I listen to them (they usually initially get anywhere from 2-4 stars). 2 stars mean they will probably never be listened to again. 3 stars means the song was fine, it could grow on me but I don’t mind not hearing it again. 4 stars means hit, it will be put into regular rotation and has the potential to become a 5 star song.
Interestingly enough (to me only), “Do You Want To” by Franz Ferdinand and “Juicebox” by the Strokes are two of the only songs to go from 3 to 5 stars.
Anyway, I just realized that “Some Might Say” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger” are indeed 5 star songs. They had been 4 stars for the past few years but, darnit, you can’t deny them greatness. So there, “Morning Glory” is the only album in my entire library to have every track rated 5 stars (yes, including “Hey Now!” the song everyone forgets).
“Is This It” is close, but “When It Started,” “Trying Your Luck” and the title track all hold it back by just being 4 stars.
I might agree, except for one thing: “Roll With It.” And maybe the “Swamp Song” tracks.
