17. The Avalaches - Since I Left You
For all the sampling, mash-ups, and such this decade, nothing has come close to 2001’s Since I Left You. The Avalanches flow seamlessly between various eras and music genres, creating an often-undanceable dance album that’s just a thrill to listen to. From the beautiful, string-heavy namesake opener, to the sample acrobatics of “Frontier Psychiatrist,” they created a pastiche that makes their ensuing silence for the rest of the decade all the more unbearable. Other highlights: “Frontier Psychiatrist,” “Two Hearts in 3/4 Time,” “Radio”
