1. It only makes it a little better, but folks who throw launch parties get free copies of Windows 7.  However, this is still totally bizarre.  But what would expect from the creators of the Songmith commercial?

This video is amazing. After watching it I was convinced it was a hoax.  There’s no way Microsoft would really launch a campaign trying to convince people to host parties to celebrate and learn about a new operating system.  Right?  That is the most absurd thing on the planet.

But check out the YouTube channel.  They have 102 of these videos.  Some show the actual parties where you hang out and learn about features.  As a hoaxmaster, I can tell you no one would put that much work into a hoax.  Microsoft is just clueless.

Also, the white guy in the video is college friend of mine, so maybe he’ll be able to shed some light on the whole thing.  I love the demographics by the way— white, black, young, and old people all love hosting Windows 7 parties!

UPDATE: My friend confirmed it is real.

Hosting your own Windows 7 launch party: “In a lot of ways, you’re just throwing a party with Windows 7 as an honored guest. Sounds easy, and it is!” (laughter)
