Let me tell you about an awesome video game. It’s called Prototype.
This game is one the most flat-out fun to play games I’ve seen in a long time. As you can see in the video above, there’s a million different things your character can do. Run up buildings, glide (you don’t actually fly, which was a great choice by the creators), perform crazy arial manuvers, make parts of your body into bizarre weapons, consume people and then take their appearance, etc etc. All this would be too much if it didn’t control so awesome. Despite having a huge amount of manuvers, the control feels natural and flowing.
Additionally, though the narrative is completely lackluster, it’s really neat to see New York devolve around you from normal into an all out battle between the military and virus monsters of some kind (and you getting attacked by both sides). It’s hyper-violent and completely over-the-top, but an absolute blast. Stupid, loud, flashy, and fun. The last game that was this ridiculous was No More Heroes.
